University Saint Mary is Hiring a Director of Financial Aid Near Leavenworth, KS

The University of Saint Mary is a Roman Catholic, liberal arts university located in Leavenworth, Kansas, just 25 minutes away from Kansas City. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and managing all processes related to University Financial Aid administration. The director also ensures university policies and procedures comply with state and federal regulations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops and implements student financial aid policies to ensure the department complies with state, federal and university regulations. Reads, complies with, and analyzes all current and new regulations pertaining to financial aid.
  • Manage process/system upgrades and implementations as they relate to the Office of Financial Aid functions and software systems
  • Directs and coordinates all financial aid and institutional scholarship programs in keeping with the demonstrated need and scholarship policies of the university, within the resources of the university.
  • Ensures all policies and procedures are documented and updated regularly.
  • Works in collaboration with University Advancement and Academics in awarding donor restricted scholarships.
  • Responsible for the completion of all financial aid surveys and regulatory reporting including the annual federal fiscal operations report.
  • Prepares and submits to government agencies the annual requests for funding of sponsored financial aid programs.
  • Responsible for coordination of annual independent audit of federal aid programs.
  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of all other requests for funding of sponsored financial aid programs.
  • Assists the in establishing the University’s institutional scholarship goals.
  • Represents the university at local events in the greater Leavenworth/Kansas City area including conducting financial aid presentations.
  • Supervise, train, evaluate and manage the performance of assigned staff.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelors degree, Masters preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Director or Manager role, preferably in Higher Education
  • Strong knowledge of Higher Education regulatory matters, in particular with Title IV regulations
  • Experienced in managing projects and implementing processes
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including listening skills
  • Strong Analytical skills, Microsoft Office skills, Advanced Excel
  • Ability to work across departments on projects and committees
  • Excellent judgment
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Affinity for the Mission of the University of Saint Mary
